New Feature - Volunteers Required!

Posted by Matt Lawson on November 7, 2010 at 9:19 AM Comments comments (0)

A new feature is coming to AC!

For a chance to win a seasons’ subscription to the fanzine, there will be a supporter knockout quiz competition in every issue from now until the end of the season.

I am looking for eight supporters to enter this season and it’ll be timed as follows:

Issue 17: Player 1 v Player 2. Player 3 v Player 4

Issue 18: Player 5 v Player 6. Player 7 v Player 8

Issue 19: Semi-finals

Issue 20: Final

There will be 20 questions which will be asked at the match itself to avoid any cheating by using Wikipedia etc! I would like to ask the first set of questions at the Armthorpe match this coming Saturday.

If you’re interested, please email me at borofanzine@googlemail.com. It’s free to enter, and the first eight people to email me will be the ones who are picked this season.

Be quick!

Thanks - and you can see how the first two supporters get on in Issue 17 which is out at the Bridlington derby on 20th November!

Posted by Matt Lawson on March 31, 2010 at 2:14 PM Comments comments (0)

Issue 15 of the revitalized Boro fanzine Abandon Chip will be released on Easter Monday at the home match with Long Eaton United.

The 60 page bumper issue (almost double previous issues) will cost £2.00. Articles include:

* Interview with new Boro forward Craig Palmer

* Easter Archive - a look back at Boro’s Easter matches from the past.

* Attendance Anomaly - do crowds guarantee success?

* Scottish Symphony - AC regular Ian Anderson travels to Scotland in search of… well, anything really!

* Alternative Ulster - still in the UK, Rob Bernard takes us on a jaunt around Northern Ireland.

* Risen from the Ashes - Maidstone United and Boro share similar plights - Jack Mey investigates

* And much more…!

You can purchase the fanzine from our sellers around the ground or from the programme hut near the main turnstile.

I am also taking postal orders now for those who cannot make the game - there is a limited print run for this special bumper edition so please don’t miss out. Email borofanzine@googlemail.com for more details.

Please don’t be put off by the price tag - it’s 60 pages without a single advert in sight, so you’re really getting your money’s worth. I realise there’s a credit crunch on, but with Boro’s hit and miss form on the pitch, I thought I’d give people a hefty bit of Easter reading to try and compensate!

We look forward to seeing you on Monday!

Issue 15 and 16 Information

Posted by Matt Lawson on March 10, 2010 at 1:31 AM Comments comments (0)

Dear valued fanzine readers,

Issue 15 and 16 will be special editions, so read on to find out why and how it affects you.

Firstly ,Issue 15 which is out on Bank Holiday Monday is a bumper edition of 60 pages. Boro have had a torrid time on the field this season -and the fans have suffered at times, so we’ve put together an extra bigissue full of great articles to cheer you up! Because of the increasedprinting costs and thickness of this issue, please note that Issue 15 on Monday 5th April will cost £2. This still represents great value in my opinion for a publication whichstill contains no adverts - just well written articles from the likesof Rob Bernard and Ian Anderson! Full details of the interior will berevealed nearer the time.

Issue 16, which is being released onthe last day of the season will be a Back2Boro special. We hope to havean indepth look at the Weaponess site, as well as some interviews withsome of the main people involved with the project. We’ll also have amemories section featuring the Athletic Ground/McCain Stadium. If you’dlike to contribute towards this end of season special, do get in touchat borofanzine@googlemail.com

This issue will also cost £2.00 - with £1.00 from each sale going straight to the Back2Boro fund! It’s a great cause, so please support it if you can.

Iknow times are tough financially, but these two issues promise to begreat reads - so if you can spare the extra £2 over the two issues, please do purchase a copy and tell all your friends if you enjoy it! Itake great pride in the revival of the fanzine since Issue 13 - and thestandard will hopefully continue to rise into next season!

Thanks again - and look out for more information on Issue 15 in three weeks or so.
